Summary
We are seeking a Paint Lab Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Technical Services Supervisor the incumbent tests, analyzes and evaluates paint and related samples. They will co-ordinate and maintain the Natural Exposure Weathering Program and Lab Steel Supply.
Responsibilities
- Tests, analyzes and evaluates paints and related samples.
- Provides data analysis and interpretation of results.
- Works with production to investigate paint problems on the line.
- Provides technical support on continuous improvement projects and on coating trials.
- Liaison with vendors and Baycoat personnel on the development of new paints or new applications.
- Co-ordinates and analyzes Weathering Program.
- Co-ordinates supply of lab steel from coating lines through outside slitting and packaging and paint suppliers
- Prepares all related reports and documentation associated with work performed.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post secondary diploma or degree in Science or Engineering, majoring in Chemistry or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year in an industrial environment.
- Excellent knowledge of colour theory.
- Good knowledge of coating operation.
- Ability to perform statistical data analyses.
- Good computer and keyboarding skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
- Detail oriented, organized and able to prioritize conflicting demands.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
