Design Architect

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented person with experience in architectural site planning, building design, interior layouts and project management to join our team. 214 is a leading design/build construction company currently engaged in the industrial construction space. Our current goal is to build out internal capabilities within our established office team. With a current build schedule taking us out to 2032, we want to continue the evolution of our experienced team in building a brand in support of profitable growth across our businesses. A key member within the architectural division at 214 Carson Co. Inc., the position is a unique combination of the roles of computer-aided drafting/design and project management, bringing broad talents and executing on a diverse set of activities including in-house design and project management. Reporting to the Design Manager, you will work with a small but passionate team of professionals and associates within the office team. Role:
As an Intermediate Architectural Technologist, you will take charge of both pre-design and design stages of our projects, guiding them smoothly into production. Your responsibilities will involve:

Responsibilities:
Design and Technical:
- Working in a collaborative office environment directly with the Design Manager to develop design concepts, including drawings, models, and internal design standards.
- Completing site plan layouts for planning approvals
- Assisting with designing exterior building concepts and interior floor plan layouts using Autodesk Revit Software
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and by-laws.
- Provide continuous support to the Production and Construction Administration Teams.
- Work closely with project consultants to obtain Issued for Permit and Issued for Construction drawing packages
- Research building materials and interior finishes when necessary
- Assist with contract administration
- Meets with sales representatives for new products and materials presentations and updates material library when needed
Project Management:
- Oversee client and stakeholder engagement to define project requirements and scope.
- Manage project timelines, milestones, and resources effectively.
- Lead the project team in design development, ensuring adherence to all project deliverables.
- Monitor and resolve project challenges, reporting progress and escalations to the Design Manager.
- Ensure compliance with 214’s standards for design, documentation, and administration.
- Successfully transition projects to the Construction Administration Teams.
What’s Required:
The Ideal candidate will have the following credentials:
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Architecture or Architectural Technology
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an architectural role, experience in a project management capacity is a great asset.
- Proficient in producing drafting documents solely in Autodesk Revit with the ability to use AutoCAD for consultant coordination drawings. Working knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Lumion, Photoshop or similar design and drafting software.
- Understanding of current building systems, materials, and all codes in practice (Ontario Building Code)
- Ability to design site plan layouts utilizing local municipal zoning bylaws
- Knowledge and understanding of architectural standards, building sciences, construction technologies and practices
- Able to assist with producing working drawings and 3D models of architectural designs for a variety of project types with the focus on industrial pre-engineered buildings
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and organization skills required to meet project deadlines.
- Confident with interacting with clients, consultants, and trades through virtual and in person meetings.
- Able to manage a number of tasks on multiple projects simultaneously with skills in prioritizing
- Proven experience in industrial and commercial projects.
- Able to provide and receive feedback positively
- Construction site experience would be an asset.
- Experience in 3D renderings and visualization software is an asset

Pay: $65,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
