WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: A Registered Practical Nurse who is a leader, responsible for and promoting the well-being of our residents. You will report to the Health and Wellness Director. Participate as a member of the Team, including providing direction and guidance to support, enhance, and teach other team members. Has a strong understanding of and conducting themselves under the standards, and policies and procedures of the RHRA, CNO, Labour Board, and the Residence. Provides personal care, assistance, and behavioural supervision. Enhances quality of life by promoting independence, guidance, and understanding, and supporting our residents in their activities of daily living, getting them involved in programs that support the social, physical, spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs of our residents.
Hours: Days, holidays, and weekends.
We are looking for a Full-Time Nurse.
Day time 7:00- 3:00pm
JOB DESCRIPTION:
· Participates in the Nursing Process of Assessing, Planning, Implementing, and Evaluating the health and wellbeing of the residents.
· Ongoing observation and assessment of each resident, bringing any concerns to the Health and Wellness Director or Physician, updating resident Care Plans to reflect any changes to their current abilities and needs.
· Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the Residence.
· Provided support and supervision to the UCP/PSW/CP.
· Has the ability to identify problems and assist in providing solutions.
· Administers medications and treatments in compliance with the policies of the Residence and Standards of Practice of the CNO. Report and document any/all medication errors.
· Ensures to give/receive shift report to ensure ongoing communication and safety of the residents is maintained.
· Protects the rights of the resident in matters such as confidentiality, privacy, beliefs, and values.
· Ensures supplies and equipment are properly and efficiently maintained and utilized, reporting any deficiencies to the Health and Wellness Director.
· Liaises with other health care personnel; physician, pharmacy, agencies, and families as required.
- Completes departmental audits/inventories as required, reporting any deficiencies.
- Is capable of working in a team setting, and interacts with others in an effective, compassionate, and supportive approach.
- Demonstrates ability to organize workload and respond effectively and efficiently to unexpected situations and emergencies.
- Shows respect to each resident and their privacy and acknowledge their right to share in decision making regarding their care and maintaining their dignity.
- Ability to establish and maintain a harmonious relationship with each resident and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain department related equipment.
- Stay up to date with all documentation, and administrative duties in the Nursing Office.
- Maintain a professional appearance at times, in line with the dress code.
- Additional duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Substantial amount of standing, walking, bending, pushing, and lifting (45lbs).
· Exposure to resident elements through regular resident contact.
· Standard level of stress in dealing with resident care needs and time pressures.
· Considerable concentration required during preparation and administration of medications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Completion of a Practical Nursing program from a recognized college and a current, and in good standing, Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
· Comprehensive knowledge of up-to-date nursing, health care practices, and techniques including courses.
· Recent experience in geriatrics an asset.
· Demonstrated command of the English language, written and verbal.
· Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
· WHMIS training.
