Position Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Bench Operator to join our team at Rapistan on the day shift (7:00am – 4:30pm). This role is responsible for preparing, assembling, and finishing jig and fixture components to meet engineering specifications and quality standards. This role requires proficiency in basic machining operations, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and the use of precision measuring tools to ensure accurate assembly and fit-up of components.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare jig and fixture components for assembly by cleaning, deburring, fitting, and verifying dimensions.
- Assemble jigs, fixtures, and related tooling according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Perform tapping, broaching, straightening, and fitting operations to ensure proper alignment and functionality of components.
- Carry out basic machining operations on a manual milling machine as required to modify or finish components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and understand dimensional tolerances and assembly requirements.
- Use precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges, to verify part dimensions and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy, fit, and quality before release to production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and care of hand tools, measuring equipment, and machinery.
- Identify and report defective materials, equipment issues, or quality concerns to the supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with machinists, toolmakers, and other production personnel to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.
