Senior Quality Assurance Engineer - (Civil or Structural)

Position Highlights
The Quality & Estimating Division seeks an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to join our Quality Assurance (QA)
Team. In this role, you will develop and implement risk-based QA strategies to ensure products and services meet BC
Hydro’s technical requirements for Generation, Transmission, and/or Distribution capital projects.
You will work closely with project teams to identify and mitigate quality risks, lead QA planning, and collaborate with
business partners and stakeholders. Your responsibilities include assessing supplier capabilities and defining and
executing effective surveillance strategies across assigned projects.
What you'll do
- Manage QA Work Packages on multiple capital projects, including:
- Identifying quality risks and developing mitigation plans.
- Scoping work and defining QA deliverables.
- Coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
- Ensuring completion of quality plans.
- Oversee Quality Activities:
- Review inspection and test plans and contractor submittals.
- Witness testing (including factory acceptance tests) and verify compliance with standards and specifications.
- Lead factory or site construction audits.
- Initiate and resolve non-conformities.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with engineering, supply chain, contract management, construction
management, and suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications and QA requirements.
- Deliver Documentation and Reviews:
- Prepare clear, concise reports, memos, and project quality plans.
- Review work prepared by others for accuracy and adherence to engineering standards.
- Support Procurement and Supplier Oversight:
- Participate in strategic sourcing events.
- Define evaluation criteria, assess proposals, and conduct supplier evaluations and surveillance.
- Provide Leadership: Guide Quality Assurance inspectors and support professional development of engineers and
technical staff.
What you bring
- Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (recognized by Canadian Universities and
accredited by Engineers and Geoscientists of BC).
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
