Job Brief:
The Schneider Electric PLC Programmer provides technical expertise in the design, configuration, programming, testing, commissioning, and support of industrial automation systems for a variety of clients. This role is primarily focused on Schneider Electric PLC platforms, HMI/SCADA systems, and associated industrial control technologies.
The successful candidate will support projects through all phases including design, development, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, startup, and ongoing operational support.
The Schneider Electric PLC Programmer works closely with clients, engineers, project managers, operations personnel, and field technicians to develop reliable, efficient, and maintainable automation solutions for industrial facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop, program, configure, and maintain Schneider Electric PLC control systems.

Design and implement control strategies utilizing EcoStruxure Control Expert (Unity Pro) and EcoStruxure Machine Expert platforms.

Develop and configure HMI and SCADA applications using Schneider Electric and third-party visualization software.
-
Configure PLC communications, industrial networks, and remote I/O systems.

Develop functional design specifications, control narratives, cause-and-effect matrices, and detailed software documentation.

Perform software testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and startup activities.

Troubleshoot and optimize existing PLC and SCADA systems to improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Integrate PLC systems with VFDs, analyzers, instrumentation, safety systems, and third-party equipment.

Support modernization and migration projects involving legacy control systems.

Configure and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet networks including Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial protocols.

Generate and maintain complete project documentation, including system architectures, control narratives, operating procedures, and as-built documentation.

Provide technical support during project execution, startup, and ongoing operational activities.

Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, and execution activities.

Participate and comply with company safety programs and company policies.
Required Skills/Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of industrial automation experience with at least 3 years programming Schneider Electric PLC systems.

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

Experience developing and implementing PLC-based process control strategies.

Strong understanding of process control fundamentals including PID control, sequencing logic, alarming, motor control, and process optimization.

Experience with Honeywell Experion, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens PCS7/TIA Portal, Emerson DeltaV, or ABB control systems considered an asset.

Familiarity with Cybersecurity Standards for Industrial Control Systems is considered an asset.

Standard First Aid/CPR with AED, H2S Alive.

Valid Class 5 Driver's License with acceptable driving record.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
