Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead small group tutoring sessions with students aged 9-18 where you'll guide discussions, answer questions, and help students work through problems collaboratively.
- Use our provided materials to deliver structured lessons and ensure students understand key concepts.
- Apply effective teaching strategies and strong communication to boost students' academic skills.
- Utilize interpersonal skills to keep students engaged and motivate them to take ownership of their learning.
- Provide clear, targeted feedback—both verbally and in writing—so parents can monitor their child's progress.
- Support New Canadians develop stronger English language skills in an educational environment.
- Demonstrate cultural competency by fostering a positive, inclusive environment where students are encouraged to rise up to the challenge.
Ideal Candidate
- Passionate about helping others learn.
- Confident in classroom management skills or willing to learn.
- Eager to grow through targeted training in academic enrichment and test prep.
- Looking to leverage strong academic skills in a rewarding role.
- Although we invite people of all backgrounds to apply, looking to add tutoring hours to their resume for a PDP or B.Ed application is an asset.
- Although no classroom experience required, volunteering experience in the B.C. school system is an asset.
