Construction Project Loan Monitors (Quantity Surveyors) measure and monitor the value of a construction investment from concept to completion.
Please note: This is an 18-month contract position from July 2026 through to the end of December 2027 covering a parental leave.
What You Get to Do
- Lead and assist on up to 20-30 projects in the Ottawa area per month with minimum supervision.
- Conduct periodic construction site inspections.
- Review documentation provided by Lenders to prepare preliminary reports, which evaluate project validity and projected costs and timelines of construction.
- Prepare and undertake periodic reviews of construction progress claim reports, including invoices, valuation of changes, analysis of progress on site and recommendation of loan advances.
- Prepare construction budget reviews through detailed analysis of development proposals with comprehensive knowledge of typical Lender’s requirements and terms of engagement.
- Understand Engineering consultant reports and their impact on development proposals.
- Account for coordinating workload and team resources with the support of the President and Director.
- Collaborate seamlessly within a small team, sharing knowledge and information.
- Network regularly promoting the business, cross-selling and building new contacts and enhancing client relationships.
What You'll Bring
- 1 - 3+ years of relevant experience.
- College degree or equivalent to any of the following: Architectural Building Technology, Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Construction Engineering or Project Management.
- Professional qualification preferred: PQS and/or MRICS.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills combined with sound judgment and initiative.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail to ability to produce quality work.
- Strong time management skills and proven ability to consistently meet or exceed deadlines.
- Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics.
- Strong communication skills – verbal, report writing & presentation.
- Eligible to work in Canada or pursuing a work permit.
- Hold a valid G class driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
