Job Title: Supervisor/Principal

Position Summary
The Child Care Centre Supervisor is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) responsible for providing leadership and operational oversight to ensure the successful delivery of exceptional early learning and childcare services. This role oversees the daily operations of the centre, supports and mentors educators, ensures compliance with all legislative and licensing requirements, and promotes a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for children, families, and staff.
Working within the requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and other applicable legislation, the Supervisor promotes best practices in early childhood education, champions continuous quality improvement, and fosters a positive workplace culture that values collaboration, professional growth, and meaningful family engagement.

Key Responsibilities
· Staff Leadership & Team Development
· Provide leadership, guidance, and day-to-day supervision to Registered Early Childhood Educators and other centre staff.
· Inspire and maintain a positive, respectful, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
· Coach and support staff in classroom management, curriculum delivery, professional conduct, and ethical practice.
· Identify and address performance concerns through timely coaching, feedback, and performance management.
· Coordinate staff schedules to ensure appropriate staffing ratios, classroom coverage, and operational efficiency.
· Plan and implement orientation programs for new employees, students, and volunteers.
· Organize and facilitate staff meetings, professional development sessions, and ongoing training initiatives.

Program Leadership & Centre Operations
· Coordinate and oversee the implementation of all centre programs and daily operational activities.
· Establish program goals, performance measures, and desired outcomes that support quality early learning experiences.
· Lead planning and preparation activities required to maintain compliance with licensing standards and support annual licence renewal under the Child Care and Early Years Act.
· Support educators in curriculum planning, child observations, pedagogical documentation, and reflective practice.
· Encourage child-centred, play-based, and inquiry-driven learning environments that support children's development.
· Apply knowledge of child development and assessment practices to identify and support individual developmental needs.
· Review and approve children's records, reports, documentation, correspondence, and case management plans to ensure accuracy and quality.
· Build and maintain positive relationships with families through open, respectful, and professional communication.
· Respond to parent and guardian inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely, collaborative, and solution-focused manner.

Policy, Compliance & Quality Assurance
· Review existing policies and procedures and recommend updates that enhance service quality, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
· Participate in the ongoing review and revision of the Parent Handbook as required.
· Ensure all centre practices comply with applicable occupational health and safety legislation.
· Monitor compliance with Ministry licensing requirements, public health standards, and all applicable legislation.
· Ensure consistent implementation of health, safety, nutrition, sanitation, emergency management, and risk management procedures.
· Promote continuous quality improvement initiatives that support excellence in early learning and child care services.

Perform other related duties that support the effective operation of the centre and contribute to organizational objectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Certification
Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).

Experience
· Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a licensed child care setting as a Registered Early Childhood Educator.
· Demonstrated knowledge of child development and family-centred practice gained through formal education and/or relevant professional experience.
· Previous supervisory, leadership, mentoring, or coaching experience in an early learning environment is considered an asset.
· Thorough understanding of applicable legislation, regulations, professional standards of practice, and policies governing licensed child care in Ontario.
· Current registration and good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Comprehensive knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and associated regulations.
· Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, mentor, delegate, and develop staff while fostering teamwork and accountability.
· Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related workplace safety requirements.
· Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong organizational, administrative, time management, and budgeting abilities.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital documentation, record-keeping, and child care management systems.

Employment Requirements
Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification.
Valid Food Handler Certification.

Working Conditions
Primarily on-site within a licensed childcare centre.
Combination of classroom leadership and administrative responsibilities.
Occasional flexibility in working hours may be required to meet operational or program needs.

Pay: $27.00-$28.00 per hour
