Optician
Vaughan Vision Centre
Vaughan, ON
$27.00 to $35.00 per hour + bonus pay | Full Time, On Site | Extended Health Care
Ready to take your optical career further than corporate ever could?
Vaughan Vision Centre is one of Ontario's leading specialty eye care clinics. Patients travel from across the province, and beyond, for scleral lens fittings, advanced dry eye therapy, myopia control, and vision therapy. Led by Dr. Vishakha Thakrar, a recognized leader in specialty contact lenses, our clinic takes on the complex cases other practices refer out.
For an optician, that means the work here is genuinely interesting. You'll dispense specialty and custom lenses most opticians never touch, play a hands-on role in contact lens education and fitting, and see patients leave with results that change their daily lives. If you've ever felt your skills were bigger than your job, this is the role that closes that gap.
What You'll Be Doing
- Guiding patients through frame and lens selections with confident, personalized recommendations
- Advising on lens designs, materials, and coatings, including specialty options like Neurolens and Avulux migraine lenses
- Playing a central role in contact lens education and dispensing, including soft, rigid, and scleral lenses
- Taking precise measurements and verifying all completed eyewear for quality and accuracy
- Managing orders, inventory, and follow-ups so patients are never left waiting or wondering
- Supporting the optometry team during busy clinic times and contributing to a warm, welcoming environment
This role is hands-on, patient-facing, and ideal for someone who takes pride in both technical accuracy and genuine patient care.
What We're Looking For
- Registered with the College of Opticians of Ontario, or eligible for registration
- Experience in an optometry or optical setting, comfortable supporting exams and interpreting prescriptions
- Strong knowledge of optics, lens technologies, and frame styling
- Clear, confident communication skills and a warm chairside manner
- Strong attention to detail in measurements, adjustments, and quality checks
- Organized and dependable in a busy clinic environment
- Curious and eager to grow. Specialty lenses, new technology, and complex cases excite you rather than intimidate you
What You Can Expect
- $27.00 to $35.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Bonus pay
- Extended health care benefits
- Consistent full time schedule
- Exposure to scleral lenses, EyePrint fittings, dry eye technology, myopia control, and vision therapy that most opticians only read about
- Mentorship and learning in a clinic that invests in its team
- Loyal patients who seek us out, and reviews that show the impact of the work
- The strength of an independent practice backed by Eye Recommend, Canada's largest network of independent optometrists
