Position Summary
Working as part of the Mental Health Team, the successful candidate will support schools in navigating pathways to, through and from tertiary care or services. The Mental Health Therapist will provide intensive short-term services for students who have complex mental health issues, provide students with individual and/or group counselling sessions and support schools and families to access community based resources.
Job Duties/Responsibilities

Collaborate with schools to determine the most appropriate mental health programming for students identified as having mental health needs.

Take a lead role in the development of treatment programs for students transitioning out of tertiary care services.

Assist schools to navigate tertiary care services for students.

Support school staff with accommodating school environments to support students and their treatment needs.

Support families experiencing mental health issues by attending appointments, liaising with service providers and providing information and recommendations.

Provide crisis counselling to staff and students when crisis incidents affect health, safety and well-being of the school community including Hospital School Campuses.

Design and deliver student-focused professional learning sessions for schools.

Provide intensive, short-term individual and group counseling for students with complex mental health issues.

Write, implement, and update mental health treatment plans specific to each student’s neurodevelopmental difficulties.

Facilitate treatment plans in the home and coordinating care with community and health partners.

Complete comprehensive risk assessments and collaborate as a member of the Critical Incident Support Services Team.
Education/Qualifications

undergraduate degree in a related program
-
a minimum of three years related experience including knowledge and experience with students who have complex mental health issues

excellent communication, collaboration and problem solving skills

strong relationship building skills
Rate of Pay
$49.20 - $62.88 per hour
