Job Summary
Speech Road Clinic is a growing community-based clinic providing services to children and adults. As we expand our services, we are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to join our team as an independent contractor.
This position will have a particular focus on pediatric clients, including children with autism spectrum disorder, developmental differences, sensory processing and regulation needs, motor difficulties, and challenges affecting participation in daily activities.
The OTA will provide occupational therapy intervention under the direction and supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist, based on individualized treatment plans and goals established by the supervising OT.
Services may be provided in the clinic, clients' homes, daycare/school settings, and other appropriate community settings, depending on client needs and clinician availability.
We are particularly interested in an OTA located in or near North York, Thornhill, Richmond Hill, Markham, and Vaughan areas.
Position Details

Responsibilities
- Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans and activities developed by the supervising OT
- Provide direct intervention to pediatric clients under OT direction and supervision
- Support clients in areas such as fine and gross motor skills, sensory regulation, self-care and activities of daily living, play, school participation, and functional independence, according to the established treatment plan
- Follow goals, recommendations, and intervention strategies established by the supervising OT
- Observe and document client participation, performance, and progress during therapy sessions
- Communicate relevant observations and changes in client performance to the supervising OT
- Provide parents and caregivers with strategies and activities as directed by the supervising OT
- Maintain accurate and timely session documentation
- Participate in supervision, case discussions, and treatment-plan reviews with the supervising OT
- Collaborate professionally with families, caregivers, and other members of the clinical team within the OTA role
Qualifications
- Diploma or recognized education/training as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) or Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA)
- Experience working with pediatric populations is preferred
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder, developmental differences, sensory regulation needs, and/or motor and functional challenges is considered an asset
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to follow treatment plans and clinical direction provided by the supervising OT
- Ability to work effectively and independently during treatment sessions while maintaining appropriate communication with the supervising OT
- Ability and willingness to provide home and community-based services
Experience with school/daycare-based services, developmental disabilities, feeding, sensory-motor intervention, or other pediatric rehabilitation services is considered an asset.
