We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, delivering high-quality preventive and periodontal treatment, and educating patients on achieving optimal oral health. This role requires excellent communication skills, punctuality, reliability, integrity, professionalism, and strong organizational and clinical attention to detail.
Experience with Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) principles and air polishing systems is considered a strong asset. Our practice utilizes Woodpecker air polishing technology, and candidates who are eager to incorporate modern, minimally invasive hygiene techniques into their practice are encouraged to apply.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including reviewing medical and dental histories to determine oral health needs.
- Perform dental hygiene procedures, including periodontal assessments, scaling and root planing, polishing, fluoride treatments, and patient education.
- Utilize Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) principles and our Woodpecker air polishing system, where appropriate, to provide comfortable, evidence-based preventive and periodontal care.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, periodontal health, and preventive care.
- Take diagnostic radiographs and maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
- Maintain compliance with privacy legislation and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Implement infection prevention and control (IPAC) protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures when required.
- Collaborate with dentists and the dental team to provide an exceptional patient experience and improve overall clinic efficiency.
Requirements
- Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license and registration in good standing with the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta (CRDH Alberta).
- Minimum of 2 years of RDH experience.
- Experience with Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) principles or air polishing systems is considered a strong asset.
- Previous experience in a general dental practice is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, periodontal therapy, infection prevention and control, and clinical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on patient care and education.
- Highly organized, dependable, professional, and committed to providing outstanding patient care.
- Commitment to continuing education and staying current with advancements in dental hygiene.
Schedule
This position is for 2–3 days per week. We are currently looking for Tuesdays and Thursdays, although specific days can be discussed based on the successful candidate’s availability and the needs of the practice.
