Summary:
The Main Pit Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment and activities within the aggregate pit. This role involves loading trucks, maintaining stockpiles, monitoring material quality, performing daily equipment inspections, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, dozers, and other pit equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load customer and company trucks with aggregate materials according to specifications.
- Maintain and organize stockpiles to ensure proper material separation and accessibility.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Monitor pit conditions and identify potential safety hazards.
- Assist with pit development, excavation, and material extraction activities.
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Follow environmental regulations and best practices for pit operations.
- Maintain accurate production, loading, and equipment records as required.
- Communicate effectively with truck drivers, scale house and supervisors.
- Perform general housekeeping and site maintenance duties.
Qualifications
- Experience operating heavy equipment in an aggregate pit, quarry, construction, or related environment.
- Surface Miner training is an asset
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of aggregate products and pit operations is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks associated with equipment operation.
- Ability to work extended hours when required.

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
