About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established and growing general contractor with a strong presence across Alberta and a steady pipeline of commercial construction projects across the Edmonton and Calgary markets. Known for delivering high-quality work on time and on budget within a collaborative team culture, they are seeking a Project Coordinator to support their project management team and grow with the business.
Reporting to the Project Manager, this role supports the full lifecycle of commercial construction projects, from preconstruction through to close-out. You will keep project documentation, schedules, and communication running smoothly, working closely with project managers, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to help deliver projects to a high standard of quality, safety, and client satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for a coordinator looking to develop toward a Project Manager role.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Support the Project Manager in planning, organizing, and coordinating all phases of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through close-out
Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules; track progress and flag delays or issues to the project team
Prepare, distribute, and track project documentation including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders
Maintain and update project logs and tracking tools (RFI, Change Order, Submittal, Subcontract, Shop Drawings) to keep them current and accurate
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers on scheduling, procurement, deliveries, and material lead times
Assist with procurement and expediting of materials and equipment to keep projects on schedule
Prepare and distribute meeting minutes for team and client meetings and follow up on action items
Support the preparation of progress billings, subcontractor invoices, and cost tracking in conjunction with the Project Manager and accounting team
Help manage change orders and quotations, ensuring documentation is complete and issued in a timely manner
Assist with quality control, deficiency tracking, and project close-out including client walkthroughs and O&M manual compilation
Attend site visits and project meetings to stay current on progress and support the project team on site as needed
Support health and safety compliance on site, including documentation and coordination of site requirements
Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities, and building officials as required to support project delivery
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and consultants
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
Diploma or degree in construction management, engineering, architectural technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
1-3+ years of construction experience in a coordinator, field, or office role, ideally with a commercial general contractor
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, documents, and deadlines at once
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Familiarity with commercial construction processes, documentation, and terminology; knowledge of the Edmonton and Calgary markets is an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with construction management or scheduling software (Procore, MS Project, or equivalent) is an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
A proactive, team-oriented attitude and a genuine interest in developing toward a Project Manager role
Gold Seal Certified (GSC) designation or progress toward it is an asset
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
About the Job
Competitive base salary: $70,000 to $95,000
