We are currently seeking an Accounting and Payroll Assistant to support day-to-day accounting functions and payroll administration for Sunterra Farms and affiliated companies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys accuracy, organization, variety, and working as part of a collaborative team. The successful candidate will work from our bright, modern office located just outside the village of Acme, Alberta, alongside a supportive and experienced team.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:
Accounting
- Process accounts payable, including invoice review, data entry, expense claims, vendor setup, and payment processing in accordance with internal controls and payment terms
- Respond to vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between invoices and payments
- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, credit memos, and monitoring outstanding balances
- Prepare bank deposits, cheques, and electronic payments
- Complete account reconciliations, assist with month end reporting, and provide ad hoc reports as needed
Payroll and Benefits Administration
- Assist with processing bi-weekly payrolls accurately and on time using in-house payroll/accounting software
- Process new hires, employee changes, terminations, and Records of Employment as required
- Review approved time and attendance information for accuracy
- Administer employee deductions, garnishments, EFTs, and CRA payment reports
- Maintain payroll-related employee records and documentation
- Compile and prepare payroll reports for management
- Assist with Health Care Spending Account administration, including claims, payments, and month-end reconciliations
- Support benefits administration, including enrollments, life changes, terminations, account balancing, and reconciliations
- Respond to payroll and benefits-related inquiries by phone, email, or in person
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, year-end reporting, T4 preparation, and WCB remittances
- Support payroll team members to ensure payroll accuracy, timely processing, and efficient workflow
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma required; post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in accounting, payroll, human resources, business administration, or a related field is an asset
- Previous accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll experience is an asset
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation through the National Payroll Institute is an asset
- Understanding of accounting principles, including reconciliations, journal entries, year-end preparation, and general ledger reporting, is an asset
- Knowledge of payroll legislation and employment standards is an asset
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint
- Intermediate Excel skills are an asset
- Experience with accounting and/or payroll software is an asset
- Detail-oriented, thorough, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee and financial information
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
