Position Overview
Flying K Truck & Trailer Repair is looking for a motivated Semi-Trailer Repair Apprentice to join our growing repair team. This position is ideal for someone interested in developing a long-term career as a licensed Truck-Trailer Service Technician (310J) or 310(T).
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced technicians while gaining hands-on experience inspecting, maintaining and repairing commercial semi-trailers. Apprentices at all stages may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of semi-trailers
- Repair and service air-brake systems, suspension systems, wheel ends and landing gear
- Perform brake adjustments and replace brake components
- Repair trailer electrical systems, lighting and wiring
- Complete trailer body, door, roof, floor and structural repairs
- Assist with welding, fabrication and aluminum or steel repairs
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Mount, remove and inspect tires and wheel assemblies
- Use diagnostic equipment, power tools, hand tools and shop equipment safely
- Maintain accurate work orders and record completed repairs
- Keep work areas, tools and equipment clean and organized
- Follow company procedures and all applicable workplace safety requirements
- Perform road-service or yard repairs when required
Qualifications
- Registered or interested in registering as a 310J Truck-Trailer Service Technician apprentice
- Previous trailer, truck, automotive, welding or mechanical experience is an asset
- Basic mechanical knowledge and willingness to learn
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending and working underneath trailers
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence is preferred
- Welding experience is considered an asset
- Own basic tools are preferred but not required for an entry-level applicant
