Estate Tax Specialist:
On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for an Estate Tax Specialist for a 6-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.
Estate Tax Specialist - Job Description:
The Estate Tax Specialist will be responsible for the effective and timely completion and filing of all requisite tax returns for complex Estate and Trust accounts. This role involves fulfilling a variety of income tax compliance, planning, and administrative functions to support day-to-day operations.
Estate Tax Specialist - Responsibilities:
- Obtain information from clients and internal/external sources to prepare and file income tax returns.
- Accurately prepare personal, Estate, and trust income tax returns and schedules.
- Identify post-mortem and other tax planning opportunities.
- Review assessment notices and prepare adjustment requests, objection notices, and Clearance Certificate requests.
- Liaise with Trust staff, outside tax professionals, and clients to ensure timely tax filing and resolution of taxation issues.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Manage and train junior staff.
- Review complex tax returns such as GREs and terminal T1 returns.
- Take ownership of assigned projects with limited supervision.
Estate Tax Specialist - Mandatory Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in an Accounting or tax-related role.
- Familiarity with graduated rate estates.
- Post-secondary degree in accounting or equivalent.
- Experience with preparation of T1 returns.
- Experience with preparation of T1 terminal (final) returns.
- Experience with preparation of T3 trusts and estate returns.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software.
Estate Tax Specialist – Nice-to-Have Skills:
- CPA preferred or working towards.
- Takes initiative.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent tax research and analytical skills.
- Collaborative mindset.
Estate Tax Specialist – Assignment Length:
This is a 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension or conversion to full-time employment.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in the office per week.
