The Opportunity
We are seeking a Financial Controller who is ready to step into a high-impact leadership role within a growing organization. This position is ideal for someone who is not only technically strong, but also hungry to grow, lead, and build.
The Controller will take full ownership of the finance function, acting as a key partner to leadership and helping guide the financial direction of the company as we scale. This is an opportunity to shape processes, mentor a team, and evolve into an executive leadership role as the organization continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Financial Function: Lead all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and integrity across reporting
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Drive the annual budgeting process and provide forward-looking insights to support strategic decision-making
- Team Leadership: Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures
- Cash Flow & Capital Planning: Actively manage cash flow and support financing and capital allocation decisions
- Audit & Tax Coordination: Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance and efficiency
- Strategic Partnership: Provide financial insights, identify opportunities for growth and efficiency, and support leadership in scaling the business
What We’re Looking For
- CPA designation (or near completion) preferred
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including leadership experience
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, and full-cycle accounting
- Experience in real estate or property management is an asset
- Experience with Yardi is preferred
- Proficiency in Sage and advanced Excel skills
- A builder’s mindset - someone who takes initiative, solves problems, and improves systems
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
- High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
