Safety & Compliance Coordinator
Intermodal Trucking Operations – Greater Toronto Area
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Safety & Compliance Coordinator to oversee driver compliance, safety performance, and regulatory adherence within our intermodal trucking operations.
This role is critical to maintaining operational integrity, supporting driver performance, and ensuring full compliance with provincial and federal transportation regulations. The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in driver onboarding, discipline management, safety training, and real-time operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Driver Onboarding & Compliance
- Manage full-cycle onboarding of new drivers (documentation, qualifications, orientation)
- Verify driver credentials, abstracts, and regulatory requirements
- Ensure all drivers meet company and compliance standards prior to dispatch
Safety Management
- Lead and coordinate regular safety meetings and training sessions
- Promote a strong safety culture across all drivers and operations
- Monitor driver performance, incidents, and safety metrics
Disciplinary Oversight
- Investigate incidents, complaints, and violations
- Issue disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy
- Maintain accurate records of infractions, warnings, and corrective actions
24/7 Operational Support
- Provide on-call support for drivers requiring roadside assistance or incident response
- Coordinate emergency response, accident reporting, and escalation procedures
- Act as a key point of contact during off-hours operational issues
Insurance & Compliance Administration
- Support and manage the insurance renewal process
- Coordinate with brokers and internal stakeholders to ensure proper coverage
- Maintain compliance documentation for audits and regulatory inspections
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all applicable transportation regulations (MTO, CVOR, NSC, etc.)
- Maintain up-to-date compliance files and audit readiness
- Monitor and implement changes in regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Experience in trucking, intermodal, or transportation safety/compliance (preferred)
- Strong understanding of Ontario transportation regulations (CVOR, MTO, NSC)
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and time-sensitive decisions
- Strong communication and conflict resolution abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and fleet/compliance systems
