Wage: $61,643-$113,466 (Depending on experience and education, as per KWES teacher salary grid)
Hours: Monday-Friday
About the Role:
Kyah Wiget Education Society is seeking a dynamic and adaptable teacher to deliver Grades 8–12 Science, Mathematics, and Outdoor Education programming at Skyzeh Habi Yikh. This role emphasizes hands-on, experiential, and land-based learning, supporting students through flexible, student-centered approaches that reflect community values, culture, and real-world application.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in Science and Mathematics using multi-grade and differentiated approaches
- Develop and implement hands-on, experiential, and land-based learning opportunities
- Plan and facilitate outdoor and community-based learning experiences
- Support diverse learners, including those with gaps in foundational skills or alternative learning pathways
- Use inquiry-based, project-based, and applied learning strategies
- Ensure student safety and well-being in both classroom and outdoor environments
- Maintain organized and effective learning environments, including equipment and resources
- Build positive, respectful, and culturally responsive relationships with students, families, and community
- Collaborate with staff and contribute to whole-school programming and team meetings
- Maintain accurate student records, assessment, attendance, and reporting
- Participate in professional development and ongoing reflective practice
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with Indigenous learners and communities in a respectful and culturally responsive way
- Understanding of Wet'suwet'en culture, history, and community context (or willingness to learn)
- Strong relationship-building skills, especially with students who may be disengaged or at risk
- Experience supporting diverse learners through flexible, student-centered approaches
- Ability to design meaningful, relevant learning experiences grounded in student voice and choice
- Experience with multi-grade or multi-level instruction
- Experience incorporating experiential and/or land-based learning
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a dynamic environment
- Physical ability to participate in outdoor and land-based programming
- Knowledge of BC graduation requirements and assessment practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Member in good standing with the Teacher Regulation Branch
- Valid BC Teaching Certificate
- Valid BC Driver's License (Class 5 required; Class 4 preferred)

- Criminal Record Check required
- First Aid considered an asset
