About Us
Fresh Start Support Services supports families in a safe housing community by providing early parenting interventions and skill development while putting Christ's love into action. Operating out of our transitional housing facility, The House of Homes, we provide a structured, trauma-informed environment to help the mother and child bond and build stable, independent futures.
Core Responsibilities
- Housing Network Collaboration: Work directly with regional housing authorities, local shelter networks, and coordinated access systems to build a wrap-around continuum of care and long-term housing stabilization.
- Spiritual Leadership: Actively uphold Fresh Start’s Statement of Faith and Sanctity of Life Statements, providing discipleship and spiritual encouragement to staff, volunteers, and residents.
- Operations & HR: Supervise, train, and manage a team of 5-10 staff, including direct oversight of the Program Manager. Ensure compliance with Ontario Employment Standards and health and safety codes.
- Financial Stewardship: Partner with the Board of Directors and bookkeeper to execute the annual budget, manage expenditures and ensure proper bookkeeping and risk mitigation.
- Fundraising & PR: Create and execute annual fundraising and marketing plans, write strategic grants, and serve as the primary public spokesperson and donor liaison. Attend community events as the face of Fresh Start outside of regular business hours, including speaking on Sundays at local Churches and events.
- Qualifications & Competencies Education: A post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Non-Profit Management, or a related field is highly valued, but it is not a strict requirement. Strong leadership experience will be fully considered.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in a social services role, with at least 2 years in an administrative/management position directly supervising staff. Experience in fundraising, marketing and grant writing is ideal.
- Specialized Knowledge: Well-versed in infant care, child development, attachment theory, trauma informed care and conflict resolution.
- Key Requirements: Excellent diplomatic communication skills, resilience in a fast-paced environment, and a reliable personal vehicle for local travel. First Aid and CPR Certification and Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
