Overview
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant/Pre-tester to join our dynamic vision care team. This is a full-time position working 30-40 hours per week with a flexible schedule. This vital role combines front desk responsibilities with clinical support. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care, strong communication skills, and experience working in a medical or retail setting. This position offers an engaging environment where you can grow your skills in vision and patient care. Motivated candidates will have the opportunity to purse further education to increase their skills and responsibilities.
Our clinic is open Monday to Friday with evening hours on Monday and Wednesday. We are centrally located at the Four Corners Medical Arts Building.
Responsibilities
- Greeting, registering and checking out patients
- Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate calendar activities
- Data entry and filing
- Processing payments and submitting to insurance portals
- Collect patient information and update medical records accurately
- Pre-testing patients and taking detailed patient histories
- Operating multiple pre-testing and specialty equipment including retinal imaging and visual field testing
Skills
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required
- Previous experience in a customer-facing, preferably retail environment preferred
- Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette
- Great communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- High level of comfort with computers and technology
- Compassionate approach to patient care with a focus on creating a positive experience within a healthcare setting
