Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Draftsperson specializing in building permits to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise and comprehensive technical drawings and schematics that facilitate the building permit process. This role requires proficiency in various CAD software and drafting techniques, ensuring compliance with local building codes and regulations. The Draftsperson will play a crucial part in supporting construction projects from initial design through permit approval, contributing to the successful execution of architectural and engineering plans.
Duties
- Develop accurate 2D and 3D drawings for building permit applications using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, SketchUp, NavisWorks, and SolidWorks.
- Create detailed schematics, construction plans, and technical documentation aligned with project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to interpret design concepts and translate them into precise drawings.
- Ensure all drawings meet local building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations required for permit approval.
- Review existing plans for accuracy and completeness; make necessary revisions based on feedback from authorities or project stakeholders.
- Maintain organized digital files of all drawings, schematics, and related documents for easy retrieval and compliance audits.
- Assist in preparing presentation materials including 2D animations or visualizations to support permit submissions when necessary.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in drafting for construction or architectural projects with a strong portfolio of building permit drawings.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, SketchUp, NavisWorks, SolidWorks, and familiarity with Schematics.
- Knowledge of construction processes, building codes, zoning regulations, and schematic design principles.
- Strong understanding of drafting standards and documentation practices required for permit submissions.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and interpret project requirements clearly.
- Nice-to-have skills include experience with 2D animation or visualization tools to enhance presentation quality.
