Regular Part Time
Position Description
The Regular Part Time Person at MayflowerAfter School Program will assist in implementing the after school program, reporting to the Director and adheres to all the policies and procedures set out by the Mayflower After School Program , and the relevant provincial regulations.
Required Qualifications, Certifications, Skills and Experience
· Intermediate First Aid (including infant/child CPR)
· Current and clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry letter
.NS classification preferred or prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings and wiling to continue education
Position Specific Skills
· Provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all children
· Provide a positive and fun experience for all children
· Assist in carrying out a balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities
· Assist children with social interactions and (when necessary) conflict resolution
· Provide positive guidance such as redirection, positive language, and positive reinforcement
· Maintain confidentiality of all information relating to the Program’s children, their families, and staff.
· Create and maintain positive working relationships with the staff of the Port Willams Elementary School
Health and Safety
· Maintain a high degree of health and safety each day, following safety protocols, procedures, and best practices

· Excludes school holidays (winter break, March Break, summer)

Pay: $20.00-$31.00 per hour- depended on qualifications[ ECE's holding a classification would receive government funded wage scale]

Duties
- Supervise children in a safe, caring, and inclusive environment during after-school hours
- Facilitate engaging activities that promote social skills, creativity, and learning
- Assist with homework or tutoring sessions to support academic development
- Maintain a watchful eye on children to ensure safety at all times
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to ensure smooth daily operations
- Support classroom routines and help manage behavior using positive reinforcement techniques
- Prepare and organize activity materials to create an enriching experience for all children
