Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Office Assistant specializing in Physician Triage! In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients seeking medical attention, efficiently assessing their needs and directing them to appropriate care pathways. Your expertise in patient service, medical terminology, and clinical procedures will ensure a seamless experience for patients while supporting physicians and healthcare providers. Duties
- Conduct patient intake by gathering comprehensive medical histories and current symptoms using EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation to assist physicians in diagnosis.
- Perform preliminary assessments including basic physiology evaluations and initial triage to prioritize urgent cases.
- Assist with clinical procedures such as medication administration, X-ray preparation, or specimen collection under supervision.
- Manage patient flow within outpatient clinics, hospital units (including ICU and Geriatrics), and emergency departments like Level I and Level II trauma centers.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, ICD coding for diagnoses, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Support physicians with medical-surgical tasks, anatomy and physiology reference, and basic life support (BLS) protocols during emergencies.
Experience
- Prior experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care settings, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, or emergency medicine enhances your ability to triage effectively.
- Experience with hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with EHR systems, ICD coding procedures, and medical terminology is essential for accurate documentation.
- Previous roles involving inpatient care or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), or medical-surgical units are advantageous.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required or highly recommended.
