We are seeking a skilled Industrial Millwright to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, assembling, and maintaining machinery in our industrial facility. Basic Responsibility
Reporting to the Manager, Operations, this position is responsible for the effective and efficient maintenance, installation, and modification of equipment and machinery within the plant to ensure reduced downtime and optimal operating efficiency.
Nature and Scope
- Hourly-rated position on the day shift, averaging a minimum of 44 hours per week.
- Weekend work may be required on occasion to address maintenance needs.
- Minimum education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Certificate of Qualification in Industrial Millwright plus 2–3 years of industrial experience preferred.
- Required skills include:
- Troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, and mechanical systems
- Experience with MIG and SMAW welding
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to workplace safety
- Ability to operate lift trucks, man lifts, and overhead hoist systems (where qualified)
Job Duties
- Carries out preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment.
- Performs routine, scheduled preventative maintenance on plant equipment, including lubrication, adjustment, minor repair, and logging activities.
- Contributes to maintenance shop operations including spare parts stock monitoring, re-order process, and housekeeping.
- Identifies and implements opportunities to improve safety, quality and productivity.
- Performs functions in the design, fabrication and installation of new equipment.
- Performs scheduled downtime repair and overhaul of plant equipment.
- Performs installations as necessary.
- Diagnoses breakdowns and performs necessary work to prevent downtime or return the plant to production.
- Maintains log book of all work performed, nature and reasons for breakdowns, and details of repairs.
- Ensures all activities are properly logged and requisitions for replacement materials are submitted.
- Maintains library of parts lists, repair and overhaul manuals, and supplier references.
- Provides recommendations on changes to equipment, methods, or products.
- Assists in researching maintenance project costs.
- Ensures all safety devices are properly adjusted and procedures are followed.
- Communicates with Plant Management on equipment problems related to manufacturing and capabilities.
- Maintains parts and tools inventory and advises on necessary stock.
- Complies with Occupational Health and Safety, W.H.M.I.S., and all company policies.
- Follows all safety procedures including Lockout and Pre-Start Inspections.
- Maintains housekeeping standards throughout the plant.
- Reports unsafe or adverse working conditions to supervisor, management, or the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
