Position Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the infrastructure specialist will be responsible for installing structured cabling, fiber cables, racking, wired and wireless networks, security solutions including cameras/alarms/access controls, sound masking platforms and nurse call solutions at customer locations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our clients' infrastructure is installed efficiently and meets their operational needs.Top of Form
Responsibilities
- Install voice and data cabling including fiber cabling, testing cable runs to ensure they meet specification requirements.
- Install racks, wired and wireless networks according to project specifications.
- Install, configure and support security solutions including cameras, alarms and access controls.
- Install, configure and support sound masking platforms.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure projects are completed on time.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine infrastructure requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations and configurations.
- Ensuring customers positive experience with our company.
- Ensuring workmanship is kept to the highest standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Participate in safety meetings
- Working in and outdoor environments
- Maintain the job records and the required documentation, and maps.
- Ensure that company vehicles and assets are kept secure and in good repair.
- Drive company van; loading, unloading materials and equipment
- Regularly lifting 50lbs up to 75lbs
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with cable connections, signal strength, and equipment malfunctions
Requirements:
- Physically able to perform physically demanding work
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid drivers license and ability to be insured on company vehicle. Must be able to provide a clean drivers abstract
- Able to use small hand tools and possess a high degree of dexterity.
- Able to use ladders at various heights
- Able to work on lifts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Have excellent Communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Projecting a positive “can do” attitude.
- Good computer and typing skills.
- Adhere to strong safety protocols and guidelines at all times
- Ability to travel within Alberta and within Canada as projects require.
- Ability to work flexible work hours such as overtime and weekends as needed.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate cable terminations and connections
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve cable-related issues
- Strong problem solving and Critical thinking skills
Preference given to applicants with experience with the following
- Strong understanding of the processes and procedures of ITS and structured cabling such as: Cat6, Cat6A, Twisted pair splicing and testing, Fiber splicing - OSP AND FTTH
- Basic knowledge of access control, intrusion and CCTV systems.
- Arial work – lashing
- Experience working on mainline, drops and cable projects
- Equipment operation – Fall Protection and Lifts certification (scissors and Boom)
- First Aid and Health and safety leadership training,
- Certifications (Current) that are a benefit to this position, but not required: Certified Fiber Optic Technician, BICSI and/or Manufacturer Certificates, CSTS2020,
- Experience with Security systems, IP Cameras, Controlled Access, Sound masking, nurse call, telecom platforms preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00-$74,800.00 per year
