Job Summary
Reporting to the Shop Service Manager, the Welding Assistant will work and support the Welder and shop operations. This position offers the opportunity to develop technical skills and work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties
- Assist the Welder with setup and preparation of materials, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning parts
- Conduct measurements to ensure parts meet specifications
- Maintain a clean and safe environment while adhering to safety protocols during all activities
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks and operations as required
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency in welding and use of hand tools and power tools
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position; standing, sitting, walking, lifting up to 50lbs, bending, twisting, etc.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and part tolerances
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Adaptable to changing job requirements and timelines
- Safety-first attitude
- Provide: must have own tools, hard hat, high-visibility vest, CSA-approved steel-toed safety boots/shoes
