A well-established and innovative engineering firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join its dynamic team. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in structural design and project review, particularly in pre-engineered steel buildings and related structural systems. The ideal candidate must be fully licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario (additional provincial registrations are an asset) and capable of stamping engineering projects.
This leadership position involves managing a team of drafters and designers overseeing complex structural projects and ensuring high-quality project delivery within scope and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Structural Design & Project Review: Lead and review the design of foundations, mezzanines, steel frame buildings, architectural design reviews and other structural components.
- Professional Stamping: Provide P.Eng certification for structural projects in Ontario (stamps for additional provinces are a plus or must be willing to obtain).
- Project Management & Leadership: Oversee the department to ensure efficient workflow, quality assurance, and timely project completion.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to align project goals and expectations.
- On-Site Visits - travel to various locations, on occasion to complete on-site visits
- Software Proficiency: Utilize industry-standard engineering tools, including Microsoft Office, MBS, AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, Advance Steel, and TEKLA for structural analysis and project management.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, improve workflows, and maintain high engineering standards.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, drafters, and designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all engineering documentation complies with relevant codes, provincial regulations, and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (mandatory).
- Fully licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario – must provide license number upon request. (Additional provincial registrations are an asset or must be willing to obtain.)
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering, with a focus on steel structures and complex project design (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years experience practicing in Canada.
- Expertise in AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, Advance Steel, TEKLA, and Microsoft Office.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and analytical mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.

· Software Proficiency and Technical Tools: Leveraging technology to enhance engineering design and project execution.
· Site Support and Field Coordination: Field-readiness, practical support and ability to bridge design and execution.
