Position Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting and coordinating the Company's environmental, health, and safety programs to promote a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. The position will provide day-to-day support for Health & Safety activities, Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) coordination, workplace inspections, incident and near-miss follow-up, safety training, PPE programs, chemical management, hazardous waste, spill prevention and response, waste management, environmental recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting. The EHS Specialist will work closely with employees, supervisors, managers, and external service providers to identify risks, implement corrective actions, maintain compliance, and continuously improve the Company's EHS programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day Health & Safety activities, including JHSC coordination, workplace inspections, audits, and corrective action follow-up.
- Support the documentation and follow-up of workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses, including corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate and support Health & Safety training, employee awareness initiatives, and PPE programs.
- Maintain accurate EHS documentation, records, training records, and compliance documentation.
- Support compliance with applicable Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and Company requirements.
- Manage and maintain chemical inventories, storage, labeling, and SDS documentation.
- Support the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemical and hazardous waste.
- Coordinate spill prevention, preparedness, and response activities and maintain appropriate spill response resources.
- Monitor waste management and recycling practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain environmental records and support required regulatory reporting, including annual ChemTRAC reporting.
- Support environmental inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements, and identify environmental concerns requiring follow-up.
- Support ongoing EHS projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, EHS, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in an EHS, manufacturing, or industrial environment is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Ontario Health & Safety and environmental requirements.
- Experience with workplace inspections, incident reporting, chemical management, or environmental compliance is an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related EHS/HR systems.
Working Conditions
This position requires regular presence in a manufacturing environment, including production and warehouse areas. The successful candidate must follow all applicable PPE and workplace safety requirements.

Pay: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
