THE ROLE
Elluce Contracting is hiring an experienced renovation carpenter / tile setter for full bathroom renovations throughout Central Vancouver Island, with jobsites generally ranging from Nanaimo to Qualicum Beach, including Parksville, Errington and surrounding communities. This is a hands-on role for someone who can confidently complete most stages of a bathroom renovation, is particularly strong at tile setting, works cleanly in occupied homes, and can solve problems without constant direction. Reliable transportation throughout this service area is required. The right person should be dependable, self-starting, detail-oriented and genuinely proud of the finished product.
TILE SETTING & RENOVATION SKILLS
Tile setting is a major part of the position. You should be very competent with tile installation, layout, substrate preparation and waterproofing, with an eye for clean cuts, flat substrates, thoughtful layouts and finished work that looks intentional. Candidates who consider themselves primarily tile setters / tilesetters are encouraged to apply if they also have strong general renovation and carpentry abilities.
You should be comfortable handling most portions of a bathroom renovation, including demolition and site protection, framing and carpentry, drywall/substrate preparation, waterproofing systems, tile layout and installation, flooring, cabinetry and vanities, doors, trim and finish carpentry, and general renovation problem-solving. Plumbing, electrical and painting are handled separately. You also need to be comfortable working respectfully in occupied homes, protecting the client's space, keeping a clean site and making sound decisions independently.
PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS
A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to assigned jobsites throughout Nanaimo, Errington, Parksville, Qualicum Beach and the surrounding Mid-Island area are required. Basic personal carpenter tools are required. A pickup capable of safely towing a tool trailer, and experience towing/backing trailers, are strong assets. Required business travel during the workday, travel between jobsites, and required transport or towing of company equipment are paid/reimbursed in accordance with company policy and applicable B.C. employment standards.
GROWTH & VARIETY
This position has a genuine growth path. Initially you will work closely with the owner on bathroom renovations, but as trust and capability are demonstrated, the goal is for the right person to take increasing ownership of projects, progress into Lead Carpenter, independently run bathrooms, and eventually lead a small team as the company grows. Increased responsibility, autonomy and compensation will follow demonstrated performance.
The work is intentionally varied. Because we complete full renovations rather than one narrow trade scope, you get to see projects through from rough work to the finished space and understand how all of the pieces come together. Every bathroom brings a different layout, existing condition, design detail, material or problem to solve, which keeps the work challenging and interesting rather than repetitive. As a small growing company, Elluce is also still at a stage where good ideas are noticed and the right person can have a real influence on the standards, systems and way the company develops.

CERTIFICATION & APPLICATION
Red Seal Carpenter certification is a strong asset, particularly as we plan to build an apprenticeship pathway as the company grows. Demonstrated skill, experience, quality of work and judgment remain the most important factors.
