Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.
Peace Wapiti Public School Division's Transportation Department is responsible for the repair and maintenance of more than 170 school buses and vehicles within the Division. The successful candidate must be willing to work both independently as well as in a team environment and have good communication skills. Must be able to work over-time when required.
The Transportation Department is seeking either a Full Time Licensed Journeyman Automotive or Heavy Duty Mechanic or a 3rd/4th Year Apprentice to work out of the Grande Prairie Bus Shop.

Salary is commensurate with education/training and experience.
The Journeyman wage range is currently $43.10/hour to $44.91/hour (based upon years of experience). Effective September 1, 2026 the Journeyman wage range is $44.39/hour to $46.26/hour (based upon years of experience).
The Apprentice wages are currently $34.46/hour (3rd year) and $38.39/hour (4th year). Effective September 1, 2026 the 3rd year Apprentice wage is $35.49/hour and the 4th year Apprentice wage is $39.54/hour.
