Position Overview
The Red Seal HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, and repair of residential HVAC systems including heat pumps, mini-split systems, air conditioning systems, and related equipment.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, customer-service oriented, and capable of working independently while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Installation
- Install residential HVAC systems including:
- Heat pumps
- Mini-split systems
- Central air conditioning systems
- Associated controls, line sets, electrical connections, and components
- Interpret manufacturer specifications and installation requirements
- Complete system startup, commissioning, and performance testing
- Ensure all installations comply with applicable codes, manufacturer standards, and company quality expectations
- Pull permits and complete required documentation when necessary
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
Service & Repair
- Diagnose and troubleshoot residential HVAC equipment efficiently and accurately
- Perform repairs, replacements, and system adjustments
- Conduct preventative maintenance and seasonal service inspections
- Identify and communicate repair or replacement recommendations to homeowners
- Complete accurate service documentation and records
Customer Service
- Provide professional and courteous service to homeowners
- Explain system issues, repair options, and recommendations clearly
- Maintain a respectful and professional presence in customers' homes
- Represent the company positively at all times
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety procedures and provincial regulations
- Properly use PPE and required safety equipment
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe working condition
- Participate in ongoing training and safety meetings
Required Qualifications
- Red Seal Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic Certification
- Valid Refrigerant Handling Certification
- Proven experience installing and servicing:
- Heat pumps
- Mini-split systems
- Air conditioning systems
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and permitting requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Ability to lift equipment and work in various residential environments
Preferred Assets
- Gas Fitter License (Gas B or equivalent)
- Electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience with inverter-driven and high-efficiency heat pump systems
- Experience with smart thermostats and modern HVAC controls
