Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Ironworker to join our construction and manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining structural steel and iron components across various projects. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprint reading, welding techniques, and the use of specialized tools and equipment. The position offers opportunities to work on diverse projects, including scaffolding, and structural frameworks while contributing to the safety and integrity of our people and construction sites.
Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project requirements.
- Perform welding operations including SMAW & FCAW welding with precision to ensure strong, durable joints.
- Utilize power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal components.
- Rigging heavy materials using cranes or telehandler to position steel structures accurately.
- Measure materials with calipers and other measuring tools to ensure proper fit and alignment.
- Install structural supports, and other miscellaneous iron components according to project specifications.
- Operate machinery such as cranes and telehandlers safely and efficiently in accordance with safety protocols.
- Conduct tasks as needed for custom fabrication or adjustments.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines at all times to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and colleagues.
- Assist in assembly processes involving steel frameworks or related structures.
Requirements
- Strong basic math skills for measurements and calculations required during fabrication and installation processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing or construction safety standards is essential.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions as required on construction sites.
- Certification or training in welding techniques is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience will be considered.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail for precise work execution.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must have personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, hard hat and a harness
