Are you an experienced hospitality professional who knows how to lead by example, anticipate what needs to happen next, and deliver polished service in a high-profile corporate environment?
Staff Shop is looking for an exceptional Team Lead to become a consistent leader within one of our executive hospitality accounts in downtown Toronto. This is not a traditional event supervisor role. You will become a trusted part of the operation, learning the client's standards inside and out and helping us build a small, highly capable team around you.
You'll work in an executive corporate environment supporting meetings, receptions, plated dining and VIP events where professionalism, discretion, adaptability and attention to detail matter.
What’s in it for you?
- Semi-permanent opportunity from approximately mid-September through mid-December, with potential for continued growth
- Approximately three 8-hour shifts per week, generally Tuesday through Thursday, with flexibility for Monday or Friday based on event needs
- Additional shifts may become available as event volume increases
- Consistent hours within an industry where schedules can often fluctuate
- Opportunity to become a trusted, long-term leader within a growing Staff Shop client account
- Direct involvement in developing and mentoring a dedicated hospitality team
- Exposure to an elevated executive dining and corporate event environment
- Opportunity for future growth as the account and Staff Shop's presence continue to expand
- Pay: $21 - $24 per hour
What you’ll be doing:
- Serve as the consistent Staff Shop Team Lead and onsite point of contact
- Learn and maintain the client's specific standards for executive hospitality and VIP service
- Lead by example while working fluidly alongside the client's hospitality team, kitchen, corporate stakeholders and employees from other staffing partners
- Welcome, orient and train new Staff Shop team members entering the account
- Translate site-specific service expectations into clear, practical coaching for new and existing team members
- Help new team members understand not only what needs to be done, but the level of professionalism and service expected while doing it
- Monitor presentation, uniform, professionalism and service standards throughout the shift
- Identify promising new team members and provide feedback on their readiness for future assignments
- Communicate performance concerns, staffing needs, lateness, changes and other important information between Staff Shop and onsite leadership
- Support Staff Shop in developing, training and forecasting future hires for the account
- Adapt between different FOH responsibilities depending on the event and operational needs
- Remain flexible when event timing, priorities or assignments change
- Step into service alongside the team when required rather than supervising from the sidelines
- Help build a consistent, trusted Staff Shop roster capable of supporting increasingly high-profile events
What you bring to the table:
- Strong hospitality experience in environments such as executive dining, fine dining, luxury hotels, corporate events, VIP hospitality or premium food and beverage service
- Previous experience as a Team Lead, Supervisor, Captain, Senior Server or similar hospitality leadership role strongly preferred
- A polished, poised and professional presence
- Strong service instincts and the ability to anticipate needs without requiring constant direction
- Confidence leading others while understanding when decisions or concerns need to be escalated to client management
- Ability to coach and correct team members respectfully without overstepping your role
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams, personalities and organizations within the same environment
- Strong judgement and discretion when working around executives, VIP guests and confidential corporate environments
- Ability to remain calm, professional and solutions-focused when plans change
- Comfortable providing candid, constructive feedback to Staff Shop regarding new team members
- Reliable access to a cell phone and willingness to remain reachable regarding urgent shift changes, lateness or operational updates
- Ability to commit consistently to approximately three 8-hour shifts per week, with flexibility around which weekdays are required
- Most importantly, you are someone others naturally look to for direction because of how you work, not simply because you have been given the title of Team Lead
The person we’re looking for
The right person understands that leadership here is earned through consistency.
You notice the details. You don't need to be asked twice. You can walk into a room, understand the tone of the event and adjust accordingly. You are equally comfortable supporting a setup, serving a VIP guest, coaching a new team member or speaking professionally with client leadership.
You don't need to be the loudest person in the room to lead it.
Our goal is to find someone who can become a genuine extension of both the Staff Shop and client teams, absorb the standards of the environment and then help us develop other people to meet them.
We are prioritizing the right fit over filling this position quickly.
If this sounds like the kind of hospitality leadership opportunity you've been looking for, please apply directly to this posting. We look forward to speaking with you.
