Lead the shop. Develop the team. Improve the operation. Help build something great.
True Auto Care is a growing independent automotive repair shop in Fergus, Ontario, and we’re looking for an experienced Automotive Operations Manager to help us take the next step.
We’re looking for someone who understands what happens when a busy shop gets busy — when technicians need direction, advisors need support, customers have concerns, schedules change, and small problems can quickly become big ones.
You’ll be the person who sees those things coming, brings people together, solves problems, and helps create a shop that runs better every day.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Automotive Operations Manager, you’ll work closely with ownership, Service Advisors, and Technicians to keep the entire operation running smoothly.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation and workflow of the shop
- Supporting technician productivity, workload, scheduling, and shop flow
- Identifying bottlenecks and addressing problems before they become bigger issues
- Working with Service Advisors to resolve customer concerns and difficult conversations
- Providing technicians with clear direction, expectations, and support
- Strengthening communication between the front office and the shop
- Monitoring quality, productivity, customer experience, and profitability
- Helping manage comebacks and recurring customer or operational concerns
- Coaching employees and addressing performance or communication issues when needed
- Supporting staffing and operational decisions alongside ownership
- Preparing the shop for upcoming workload and scheduling demands
- Looking for ways to improve systems, processes, and the overall customer experience
- Contributing to the continued growth and profitability of the business
The Kind of Leader We're Looking For
You’re the kind of manager who leads from the floor, not from behind a desk. You’re present and engaged, but you don’t micromanage. Your team knows you’re there when they need you, and they trust you to give them the clarity, support, and direction to do their best work.
You’re confident having the hard conversations and holding people accountable — not through confrontation, but through clear expectations, consistency, and respect. You care about your people and want them to succeed, while understanding that high standards and accountability are what create a strong team.
You also see the bigger picture. You know that happy customers, quality repairs, productive technicians, and a profitable business all go hand in hand. When something goes wrong, you don’t look for someone to blame — you look for the solution, and then ask, “How do we make sure this doesn’t happen again?”
Most importantly, you’re someone who can bring calm, structure, and leadership to a busy shop while helping the people around you become better at what they do.
What You'll Bring
You’ll be a strong fit if you:
- Have significant experience in automotive service or shop management
- Understand the realities of running a busy automotive repair shop
- Have experience leading Service Advisors, Technicians, or both
- Are organized and comfortable making decisions
- Communicate clearly and directly
- Can stay calm and solutions-focused when the day doesn’t go according to plan
- Have strong customer service instincts
- Understand the relationship between workflow, productivity, customer satisfaction, and profitability
- Are comfortable coaching people and holding them accountable
- Take initiative rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done
