Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Assistant/Apprentice to join our team. This role offers an opportunity to learn the funeral service industry, with a focus on assisting families and ensuring respectful, dignified arrangements. The position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a career in funeral services, with an opportunity to apprentice with us while earning certification. Prior experience working in customer service and physical strength for heavy lifting are valued assets for this role.
Duties
- Assist funeral directors with the preparation and setup of funeral services, visitations, and burials
- Provide support to grieving families with compassion and professionalism
- Transport caskets, floral arrangements, and other funeral items as needed, including heavy lifting tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the funeral home facilities and equipment
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, coordinating schedules, and managing logistics
- Ensure all arrangements are handled with dignity, discretion, sensitivity, and attention to detail
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to assisting grieving families
- Reliable, respectful, and able to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including weekends or evenings if required
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Previous experience in sales or customer service is a plus but not required
- Willingness to learn the funeral industry through apprenticeship opportunities
