SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Camp Supervisor, the one-on-one workers will assist with the development
and implementation of social, academic, cognitive, and recreational programming for preschoolers,
children, and youth with developmental and/or behavioral disabilities and ensure participants have a
safe and enjoyable camp experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
RECEs, ECEs, CYWs, EAs, Specialized Workers, CDAs and/or Speech Language Assistants
are preferred.
Experience working with preschoolers and/or school age children/and or youth
Experience working with special needs populations is an asset
Knowledge and/or experience with basic ABA principles is an asset
Knowledge and/or experience with emotional regulation strategies (5 Point Scale/Zones of
Regulation) is an asset
Knowledge and/or experience with AAC and Communicative Disorders is an asset

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision of campers aged 4 to 12 years
Create a safe, supportive, inclusive, creative, and respectful environment for campers
Provide safe transport of campers on day trips; both on foot and in motor vehicles (cars/bus)
Organize and implement specific age-related and developmentally appropriate daily activities
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment
Practices risk management skills to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers
Help to facilitate various modes of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (pictures,
signs, and verbal)
Implement behavioral strategies (token boards/reward systems) under the direction of the Camp
Supervisor
Develop and implement visual aids and supports (first/then, timers, visual schedules) to
individuals and groups
Assist with the mentorship of summer students
Open communication regarding any incidents, issues, and concerns with the Camp Supervisor
Perform other related duties as requested by their immediate supervisor
DURATION:
Duration of employment: approximately 8 weeks (start date to be discussed)
