The Comox Valley Transition Society is seeking a casual Support Workers. Worker functions as part of a team to provide support, information, crisis intervention, access to food and basic necessities, and referrals to participants who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness. The role assists program participants, many of whom are experiencing the impacts of trauma and other complex barriers, to live safely and successfully in residential and community settings such as supportive housing programs. The worker assesses participant needs and risks across areas including physical, emotional, social, vocational, and health functioning, and determines appropriate supports to meet individual needs and situational requirements.
Provides a range of day-to-day emotional, practical, and social supports, including advocacy, life skills development, information, resource connection, and skill modelling. Develops and implements short-term, issue-specific intervention plans within program guidelines. Positions are required to work outside normal office hours, with hours scheduled around the 24-hour clock and including weekends.
Relevant education, training and experience (2 years). Criminal record clearance and valid Level I First Aid Certificate required, Class 5 Drivers license, Foodsafe.
