Job Description
POSITION: Casual Positions and a Full-Time Evening/Weekend 6 Week Rotation.
Jessie Home requires an experienced Youth Care Practitioner (YCP)
YCPs provide care and specialized treatment for the youth within the program according to agency policies and treatment philosophy of Jessie Home. YCPs are responsible to carry out all duties and responsibilities with a youth-centered, relationship-based strengths framework that promotes the cultivation and mobilization of youth strengths, potential and capacity for growth. Programs are individualized according to the needs of the adolescents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: of the YCP include, but are not limited to:
- Helps to provide a safe, therapeutic environment for adolescent youth
- Provides care and assists clients in their daily routine
- Follows all agency and program policies and procedures
- Functions as a team member, and serves as a role model for youth
- Supervises and participates in activities with youth
- Provides ongoing counseling and crisis intervention
- Participates in the development and implementation of realistic goals and objectives
- Observes, records and evaluates daily event to assist with assessment/treatment planning
- Provides youth with information on various subjects such as : health, personal hygiene, sex education, fitness/diet, life skills, education development, job/employment preparation and skills
- Encourages family involvement when appropriate/possible
- Acts as an advocate on youth’s behalf
- Complete incident reports and prepare quarter progress or assessment reports
- Handles program funds as directed by the Executive Director
- Participates in staff meetings, workshops and training opportunities
- Accesses and utilizes community resources for clients and their families
- Attends to housekeeping, cooking and general duties related to home upkeep
- Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 education (or equivalent) (minimal)
- Current First Aid and CPR Level C
- Current valid Driver’s Licence
- Current (within 3 months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Current (within 3 months) Child Abuse Registry Check
- Knowledge of Indigenous Culture is an asset
- Must have worked in residential setting for at least 1 year.

Job Positions:
Casual Positions - Weekend availability a must; evening, days, and overnights available as casual shifts.
Full-Time: Evening/Weekend 6 week rotation.
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
