Description
Join a trusted name in commercial and residential espresso equipment service. Appliance technicians service and repair domestic and commercial appliances, with a main focus on coffee equipment. No two days look the same! You'll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of household and commercial appliances, as well as performing required preventative maintenance, working across both bench diagnostics and on-site service calls.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Repair espresso machines and grinders, both residential and commercial, including our core commercial brands, Victoria Arduino and Nuova Simonelli, as well as related commercial kitchen equipment such as panini presses, pasta boilers, pasta machines, gelato machines, refrigerators, and dishwashers
- Consult customers or refer to work orders to establish the nature of the appliance malfunction
- Diagnose faults methodically using test equipment such as multimeters and pressure gauges, to measure resistance, current, voltage, pressure, temperature, and flow rate
- Refer to schematic diagrams or product manuals and disassemble appliances using hand tools
- Repair and replace components such as electric motors, solenoid valves, pumps, heating elements, SSRs, transistors, capacitors, and PCBs, using hand tools and soldering equipment
- Use shop equipment and specialized diagnostic tools to repair, adjust, and reprogram appliances
- Prepare estimates, professional written reports, and invoices of the work performed
- Process customers' payments when working on-site
- May plan and run service routes for on-site work, in addition to in-shop bench work
Requirements and Skills
- Proven work experience as an Appliance Service Technician or similar role, or equivalent experience with commercial machinery and repair.
- Strong familiarity with the physics principles governing multiple equipment types
- Solid understanding of hydraulic/steam systems and components, electrical and electronic systems, and PCB-level repair
- Familiarity with common components such as electric motors, solenoid valves, SSRs, transistors, capacitors, and flow meters
- Strong analytical and methodical approach to diagnosis and troubleshooting
- Basic computer literacy
- Postsecondary training from a trade or vocational school is preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Manual dexterity
- Physical and mental stamina
- Ability to lift 70–80 lb from the ground
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
