Freebird Market is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and customer-focused Kitchen Personnel team member to join our Bay Adelaide Centre location.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and takes pride in preparing quality food while providing excellent customer service. During our slower summer season, hours may vary, with the opportunity for additional hours beginning in September.
Position Overview
As a member of our kitchen team, you will support daily food production, assist with customer orders, maintain attractive food displays, and help ensure the kitchen operates efficiently while upholding our high standards of quality and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Kitchen Support
- Prepare salads, sandwiches, wraps, parfaits, and other grab-and-go items
- Assist chefs with daily food preparation and production
- Grill sandwiches and warm pizzas to order
- Bake or prepare items such as cookies, croissants, and other baked goods
- Replenish hot food items while maintaining quality, freshness, and presentation
Merchandising & Food Displays
- Set up and maintain attractive food displays
- Ensure products are properly labelled and merchandised
- Keep display areas clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the day
Customer Service
- Provide friendly, professional customer service
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Answer basic menu questions and make recommendations when appropriate
Cleaning & Food Safety
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed
- Maintain clean and organized workstations
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company standards
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen, café, or food service experience is an asset
- Comfortable working in both food preparation and customer-facing roles
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
- Available to work Monday through Friday
Compensation & Benefits
- $18.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience
- Part-time or full-time opportunities available
