FLOATER BASIC CUSTODIAN

We are accepting applications for the following permanent full-time 1.0 FTE Floater Basic Custodian. The home base school will be Mitchell District High School. This position will be deployed to replace absent staff in schools across the district, as well as to provide additional support to specific sites for special projects or to assist during peak workload periods.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, with a minimum of ½ hour lunch break, for a total of 8.5 hours, 12 months a year, shift work is involved
Start Date: As soon as possible
Mileage: Appropriate mileage will be paid as per AP 515-Travel & Expense Reimbursement
Rate of Pay: $26.10 - $26.59 per hour in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement

The Basic Custodian duties may include:
Building Maintenance

change lights
-
shovel snow
-
operate snow blower
-
clean and inspect roof
-
operate grass cutting equipment
-
perform minor repairs
-
conduct health and safety checks
-
service roof top unit
Building Cleaning
-
operate and maintain all equipment
-
perform all minor and major cleaning
The ideal candidate should possess:
-
the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
-
mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
-
exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
-
the ability to use a computer eg. GAFE;
-
experience in handling machinery ie. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers;
- knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
-
satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position.
