About the Role
In this position, the Airside Patroller is responsible for conducting patrols of the airfield perimeter and critical infrastructure areas to ensure compliance with aviation security regulations. This role supports the Operations Centre by proactively identifying risks, maintaining perimeter integrity, and responding to suspicious activity within restricted and critical airside areas.
Airside Patrollers operate within a highly regulated aviation environment and play a key role in safeguarding YYC’s airside operations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Patrol airfield perimeter to ensure fence integrity and report deficiencies
- Detect, deter, and respond to unauthorized access to restricted or critical areas
- Inspect and verify that all airside gates are secure
- Conduct frequent patrols of airside critical infrastructure locations
- Observe and assess individuals displaying suspicious or unusual behaviour
- Resolve incidents when possible and report all suspicious activity to the Operations Centre
- Maintain accurate communication with the Operations Centre via radio

What You Bring
- Valid Alberta Security License
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Driver’s License, Class 5
- D or DA AVOP with Night Endorsement (must remain in good standing)
- Valid and active Transportation Security Clearance (RAIC)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of radio proficiency and situational awareness
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods
- Ability to patrol large outdoor airfield areas
- Physical endurance suitable for long-duration patrols
- Ability to respond promptly to incidence across airside environments
Working Conditions
- 12-hour shifts, in a 24/7/365 operational environment
- Indoor and outdoor work, including exposure to inclement weather
- Prolonged periods of walking, sitting, or standing
- Highly regulated airport environment with strict compliance requirements
