Designer / Project Coordinator - Sperling, MB
Our client is a leading manufacturer and installer of structural steel and mechanical equipment. Based in Sperling, Manitoba, they operate a state-of-the-art paint shop and prioritize safety, quality, and teamwork. Our client is currently looking for a Designer/Project Coordinator to join their tea. This role is responsible for transforming ideas, concepts, and partial designs into detailed models, drawings, and documentation to communicate design intent to fabrication and installation teams. This role combines design, project coordination, estimating, and quality assurance, with opportunities to lead projects from initial request through to completion.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the design and project management teams, as well as clients, to fully understand project requirements and customer needs.
- Create 3D models and drawings of structural and mechanical components to meet project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
- Assist in preparing work packages and instructions for fabrication and construction teams, providing additional guidance as needed.
- Communicate the scope of work, installation procedures, and project direction to field teams.
- Assist with estimating, project management, QA/QC, and data collection tasks, such as field measurements.
- Participate in site visits to gather data or provide support as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Use 3D point cloud scanning and other advanced technologies to enhance project execution.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in reading drawings and communicating ideas graphically.
- Experience in structural and/or mechanical disciplines within an industrial sector is an asset.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Post-secondary education in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or Tekla Structures is an asset.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- General mechanical aptitude and understanding of structural systems and construction processes.
