The Today Centre provides a single point of entry to comprehensive services for those impacted by family violence in Edmonton and Area. The Today Centre uses an integrated service delivery model, requiring partnerships with service providers to ensure a collaborative, coordinated community response for those impacted by family violence.
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time position as a Family Violence Education Specialist to join our team!
Responsibilities:
· Develop and deliver public education workshops on the prevention of family violence and engage in other awareness raising initiatives
· Develop and deliver healthy relationships workshops to youth in schools and youth serving agencies
· Organize and coordinate educational opportunities for The Today Centre staff and stakeholders
· Assist with the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, brochures, annual report, e-newsletters, signage, etc.
· Develop annual work plan to meet deliverables and outcomes in funding contracts
· Develop evaluation tools which are aligned with performance and impact requirements in funding contracts
· Identify opportunities for program development that better serve the needs of the public
· Keep accurate and concise notes, details and statistics
· Represent The Today Centre on relevant committees, community meetings, tours and events
· Work collaboratively with partners and community stakeholders
· Engage in training opportunities to enhance knowledge and best practices within the field of family violence
The ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
· Minimum post-secondary degree in related Education, Social Work or related Human Services. A combination of related education and 3 - 5 years of experience working in the field may be considered
· Minimum two years related experience in designing and delivering education sessions about family violence, or working in family violence programs/services
· Experience in developing creative communications and awareness raising strategies would be an asset
· Experience in crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning would be an asset
· Experience working with diverse populations
· Knowledge of community resources
· Knowledge of relevant acts, regulations and professional ethics
· Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills along with strong computer skills
· Ability to follow ethical practices in accordance with the Alberta College of Social Workers Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
· Possess a reliable vehicle and valid Class 5 Alberta Government Operators Licence
The salary range for this position is $51,375 to $57,854 annually. Upon three months of employment and successfully completing the probationary period, the successful incumbent is eligible for participation in the organization's Group Benefits Plan and Group RRSP Program.
