About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
The kinesiologist has a direct reporting relationship to the Manager of the Transitional Care Unit‑(TCU) with a matrix
reporting relationship for kinesiology practice to the Director, Health Professions and Collaborative Practice. The
kinesiologist will work in partnership with the interprofessional team to develop the plan of care. The kinesiologist is
responsible for conducting initial and ongoing physical activity assessments as well as organizing, planning,
coordinating, delivering and supervising care plans. The kinesiologist will also provide individual and group education
for the patient.
As a member of the interprofessional team the kinesiologist will actively participate in team rounds.
The TCU kinesiologist will perform all duties of a kinesiologist, following the scope of practice defined by the College
of Kinesiologists of Ontario.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology
Certifications:
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario required
- BCLS
- CSEP‑ Preferred. Professional Fitness and Lifestyle Consultant
- Member in good standing with Ontario Kinesiology Association
Required Skills:
- Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Experience in the care of geriatric patients
- Minimum 3 year experience in a hospital or long term care setting
- Experience working in an interprofessional team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills including use of power point excel and word
Preferred skills:
- Competency and or experience in program administration
- Specific additional training in exercise physiology, participant counseling or other related health care activities.
- Experience using an electronic medical record
Salary Range: $39.160 to 50.770
