NWI Precision is currently seeking experienced Document Controller
The Document Controller is responsible for the creation, control, coordination, and retention of manufacturing and quality documentation supporting precision-machined pressure boundary components for CANDU nuclear reactor programs and Aerospace AS9100D.
This role ensures that all manufacturing records, including History Dockets and History Files are accurate, traceable, and compliant with nuclear quality program requirements and customer contractual obligations. In addition, document control, approve and release based on aerospace AS9100D requirements.
The position serves as the central coordination point between Quality, Engineering, Finance, Program Management, Logistics, suppliers, and customers, ensuring documentation approvals are obtained and finalized prior to shipment and project closeout.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
History Docket & History File Management
- Compile, create, and maintain History Dockets and History Files for nuclear pressure boundary components.
- Ensure documentation packages include all required records such as:
- Material certifications and traceability records
- Inspection and test reports
- NDE reports and certifications
- Dimensional inspection records
- Nonconformance and corrective action documentation
- Certificates of Compliance and release documentation
- Verify completeness, accuracy, and consistency of records prior to submission.
Document Control & Configuration Management
- Maintain controlled distribution, revision control, and archival of manufacturing and quality documents.
- Ensure documents comply with company Quality Management System requirements and nuclear record retention expectations.
- Control revisions of drawings, procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
- Maintain document traceability from raw material receipt through final product shipment.
Customer & Internal Approval Coordination
- Coordinate documentation reviews and approvals with:
- Customers and Authorized Inspection Agencies (as applicable)
- Quality Assurance
- Engineering
- Program Management
- Finance
- Logistics and Shipping teams
- Track approval status and proactively follow up to prevent schedule delays.
- Facilitate resolution of documentation gaps or discrepancies prior to final release.
Project & Program Support
- Support Program Management by ensuring documentation milestones align with project schedules.
- Prepare documentation packages required for shipment authorization and customer turnover.
- Assist with contract documentation requirements and deliverable tracking.
Quality & Compliance Support
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by retrieving and presenting controlled records.
- Ensure permanent records meet nuclear audit readiness standards.
- Identify documentation deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
Logistics & Shipment Release Coordination
- Confirm documentation completion prior to shipment authorization.
- Coordinate with Logistics to ensure shipment packages include required certifications and documentation.
- Support export or customer documentation requirements where applicable.
Health, Safety & Nuclear Responsibility
- Maintain strict adherence to nuclear documentation rigor and traceability expectations.
- Promote a strong nuclear safety culture through accurate and conservative record control.
- Escalate documentation issues that may impact compliance or product acceptance.
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), regulations, and internal health and safety policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Engineering Technology, Quality Management, or related discipline preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of document control or quality records experience in:
- Precision machining
- Manufacturing
- Nuclear, aerospace, energy, or other regulated industries (preferred)
- Experience managing complex documentation packages or turnover dossiers.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Understanding of:
- Manufacturing documentation workflows
- Revision and configuration control principles
- Traceability requirements for engineered products
- Experience with:
- ERP or document management systems
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and quality documentation (asset).
