Overview
We are in search of an eager candidate looking to join our team-based/family feeling work environment at the Binbrook FreshCo as an experienced Meat Manager.
As Meat Manager you would be accountable for the productivity and fiscally- responsible operation of your department. You would be expected to manage staff to achieve the highest level of customer service while complying to all Store Policies including, Food Safety, Respectful Workplace, Health and Safety, along with other programs and initiatives. The Meat Manager will also manage department budgets, shrink reports, inventory control, department specific opportunities, and general merchandising.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the meat department, including inventory management and product display
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation within the department, including storage and handling of inventory
- Track stock levels and monitor product freshness to minimize shrink in the department
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with product selection and answering questions.
- Train and supervise staff on proper food safety protocols and customer service skills including FIFO rotation
- Implement new and innovative merchandising strategies to promote sales and enhance department appearance
- Adhere to all safety guidelines related to food handling, equipment operation, and workplace safety
- Be flexible with scheduling including a willingness to work evenings and weekends as dictated by the business. Retail is a field that does require managers to be available during busy Holiday seasons as well.
Experience
- MANDATORY: Minimum 1-Year Experience as a Meat Manager (will consider management in similar departments within the grocery industry - such as Produce Manager)
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling of perishable goods
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience in grocery setting is required
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele
- Certifications such as Food Safety, First Aid/CPR, Power Jack License, and Competent Supervising are an asset, but can be provided upon hiring if expired or soon to be renewed.
